Warm up clash for Fiji Airways Fijian 7’s team

The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team is gearing up for a series of warm-up matches against the visiting Japan 7s side this weekend.

The matches will follow the Olympic schedule format seeing two consecutive days of games on Friday, followed by a rest day on Sunday, before culminating in the finals on Monday.

This mirrors the scheduling structure of the Olympic 7s competition, allowing players to acclimatize to the demands of back-to-back matches and recovery periods.

Fiji Airways Fijian 7s Coach, Osea Kolinisau, said this was a great opportunity to test out his squad, particularly focusing on younger players who didn’t feature in recent tours.

“I want to test out the young boys, they are playing against Japan just to give them an experience of playing an overseas side.”

“We are thankful for the Japan team for this opportunity as it will help us fine-tune our preparations and assess the depth of their squad ahead of the Olympics,” Kolinisau said.

Rugby fans can expect thrilling encounters as these two dynamic sides go head-to-head at Albert Park in Suva.

Schedule:

The two teams will go head-to-head on Friday (19th April), Saturday (20th April) and Monday (22nd April) at Albert Park in Suva.

There will be two games per day-

Morning Session: 10:30am

Afternoon Session: 3:00pm
