It’s fun staying with players in camp: Ikanivere

FIJI Water Flying Fijians hooker Tevita Ikanivere said there is a happy mood in the camp as they prepare to face Samoa in the June Test Series on Saturday.

Ikanivere who has been one of the vital players for FIJI Water Flying Fijians in the past few campaigns and led the Fijian Drua in the Super Rugby Pacific said the bond in the team has become stronger since the beginning of the camp in Taveuni.

He said “There is a positive mood in the camp and it’s been fun staying and playing with the FIJI Water Flying Fijians.

Most of us are from different places like Europe and Japan and it’s been good team bonding over a few weeks that we have been together.”

He further added that the team has reviewed the game over the weekend against Tonga and has picked out the areas that need improvement.

Ikanivere said, “We dropped off a bit because of our discipline whereby we failed to exit well but thanks to the finishers who came strong and carried on the momentum which was left by the run-on team.”

He said “We are just trying to have a full 80 minutes’ performance. Once we have a foot on their throats, we keep it there and keep pushing and make them pay.”

The 23-year-old, Lau native said everyone is trying to give their best shot in preparing the best FIJI Water Flying Fijians team for France.

“We have been improving every day but there is more to work on and get better as we progress towards Rugby World Cup,” said Ikanivere.

The FIJI Water Flying Fijians face Manu Samoa at 2pm {FJT} on Saturday.
