Intense competition expected in Weetbix Raluve.

The Weetbix Raluve Competition is set to kick-off with its national quarterfinals this weekend with eight teams looking to stamp their mark at Suva Grammar School grounds.

With the addition of new schools, and the Under-16 grade clash, expect more upsets and surprises in the play-off.

New-comers Adi Cakobau School and Mahatma Ghandi Memorial School will provide stiff competition after being undefeated in their zones.

Fiji Secondary School Rugby Union President Biu Colati extended his appreciation to participating schools for being part of the competition that is growing from strength to strength.

“The level of competition among the girls is getting intense, we see them being very competitive even at the zones so you can only imagine what will happen in the national play-off,” he said.

“It will be a very exciting weekend of rugby, also one of the biggest quarter-final we’ll see as we host the games at the stadium.”

He also thanked main sponsors, CJ Patel Group of Companies for their continuous support in the growth of women’s rugby at the grassroots level.

Fiji Rugby Administrator Simione Valenitabua congratulated the eight teams from each grade that have made it into the National quarters.

“It is through your hardwork and dedication that you have made it this far, so go out and show your talent but most importantly, have fun,” he said.

All Raluve matches will be played at the Suva Grammar School ground on Saturday.

The Under-16 quarterfinals sees, Naitasiri SeocndarySchool take on Bucalevu Secondary School.

The Quarter-final to will feature Jasper Williams High School and Adi Cakobau School. Lelean Memorial School will face Nabala Secondary School before Sigatoka Methodist College meets Lomary Secondary School.

In the Under-18 grade, last year’s finalist Jasper Williams High School will face newcomers Adi Cakobau School.

Mahatma Ghandi Memorial School faces St Bedes College in the second quarter final.

Dawasamu Secondary School will play Nasinu-based Khalsa College before defending champions Natabua High School goes against Naitasiri Secondary School.

Ticket prices are $7 for adults, $3 for kids under 12 and students in uniform.
