FRU & FSSRU meet to pave the way forward

The Fiji Rugby Union together with the Fiji Secondary School Rugby Union convened in Suva today for a one-day workshop on ways to move forward as the much-anticipated Schools Rugby season approaches.

The aim of the workshop is to help develop strategies to create a safer rugby environment for all age-grade players, this was also in partnership with Oceania Rugby.

FRU National Development Manager Lionel Danford said they have collected data from past tournaments to strategically plan and pave the way forward for this season.

Speaking during the opening address, Interim Chief Executive Sale Sorovaki said this was a very important talking space for not only Fiji Rugby Development Unit but the decision-makers for the secondary school’s rugby union.

Sale said, “These rugby schools competition sets platforms for all our programs so strengthening from the grassroots is important.”

He said, “We hope to be able to give them some information and assist in decision-making when the season starts.”
