Message From The Chairman

Bula to the Fiji Rugby Union and the passionate rugby community of Fiji,
Welcome.

I am excited, yet humbled  to be able to  outline the vision for the future of our beloved sport that me and members of our new board have for the new journey.

The foremost aspiration we have as your Board is to usher in an era of stability across all levels of Fiji Rugby. This stability will serve as the bedrock upon which we can build a stronger, more sustainable, and ultimately more successful future for the game in our beloved Fiji. In short, we want to be Tier 1.

The journey started with the election of the new Board members at our AGM, last October. That moment marked not just a change in leadership, but a significant opportunity for renewal within the Fiji Rugby Union and the global family of fans. We are now here at a crucial juncture where we can collectively reimagine our organization and its role in the national landscape. My vision is one that embraces progress while respecting the rich heritage and spirit that defines Fijian rugby.

At the heart of this renewal is a clear pivot towards establishing Fiji Rugby Union as a high-standing , high performance corporate body. This transformation is not merely about adopting corporate structures; it is about cultivating a culture of high performance, professionalism, transparency, and accountability in all our operations. By embracing best practices in governance, financial management, and strategic planning, we can ensure the long-term viability and credibility of our organization.

This evolution into a robust corporate entity is intrinsically linked to our commitment to building a culture within  Fiji Rugby that is sustainably linked to consistent high performance. This encompasses nurturing talent from the grassroots level, strengthening our domestic competitions, and providing our national teams with the resources and support they need to excel on the global stage. We must invest in elite coaching development, infrastructure improvements, and player welfare programs to create a thriving ecosystem for rugby across the nation. In order to have this all done well, we must work at rebuilding our game from club level upwards. Compliance and accountability from club level upwards is going to be crucial for the adoption of this high-performance culture in our game.

Simultaneously, a key pillar of my vision is to maximize commercial opportunities for Fiji Rugby. In an increasingly competitive sporting landscape, strategic commercial partnerships are vital for generating the revenue necessary to fund our ambitious goals. This includes exploring innovative sponsorship deals, enhancing our media rights agreements, and developing engaging marketing strategies that resonate with both local and international audiences. By unlocking the commercial potential of Fiji Rugby, we can create a virtuous cycle of investment and growth that benefits the entire rugby community.

My commitment extends to fostering stronger relationships with all stakeholders, including our clubs, provincial unions, sponsors, government bodies, and most importantly, the passionate fans who are the lifeblood of our game. Open communication, collaboration, and mutual respect will be paramount in achieving our collective objectives.

In conclusion, my vision for the new board is one of stability, renewal, and strategic growth. By building a high-standing corporate body that prioritizes both the development of Fiji Rugby through its ongoing high performance and the maximization of commercial opportunities, we can ensure a brighter and more sustainable future for our sport. I am confident that, working together, we can elevate Fiji Rugby to even greater heights and continue to inspire the nation with our talent, passion, and unwavering spirit.
Vinaka vakalevu.
