The HSBC World Rugby Sevens, now rebranded as HSBC SVNS consists of 7
tournaments held around the world, which features the world’s top men’s and
women’s sevens teams competing for series points at each round, showcasing fast-
paced, high-skill rugby. The event is governed by World Rugby with each individual
tournament managed by the hosting Union and event organisers.
There are 12 core teams who participate in each round of the series. An overall
champion is crowned at the end of the season based on points accumulated
throughout the 7 events, from the opening round in Dubai in November to the final
round in Los Angeles in May the following year.
In the 2024 promotion/relegation round, Kenya and Uruguay replaced relegated
teams Canada and Samoa after winning the 2024 HSBC Sevens Challenger.
For the 2024-25 season, the series kicked off in Dubai on November 30-December
