Bonus for FIJI Water Flying Fijians at the end of the RWC
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has ensured the FIJI Water Flying Fijians that they are up for a deserving bonus after the end of the Rugby World Cup in France.
He paid a special visit to the team at their base camp in Welagi, Taveuni today. He met the FIJI Water Flying Fijians players and management and ensured that their plans leading into the 2023 RWC won’t be affected.
He was also impressed seeing the FIJI Water Flying Fijians training camp set up an also thanked the people of Welagi for the traditional welcome.
PM Rabuka said “I only came to pay my respect to the Turaga Tui and as I was getting into the aircraft in Nadi, I was told that the squad is training here and I thought of stopping over and seeing you training here.”
He further added, “I’m very happy to be able to see you training hard here, preparing and bonding for the Rugby World Cup in France.” PM Rabuka said that the FIJI Water Flying Fijians team may be eligible for a bonus depending on their finish at the RWC.
“There is a bonus and it will not come from the government but from a very friendly nation. It’s a deserving bonus that will come to you at the end of the Rugby World Cup” he said.
He also urged players to not be distracted or discouraged by the financial issues facing Rugby House adding “that is for us to deal with – you do your best and we will do the rest.”
“I’m here to tell you that you can continue working hard and there will be no distractions in your preparation. Whatever Fiji Rugby is going through will not come your way” said Rabuka.
