Crunch time for Vodafone Vanua semi-finalists

The Vodafone Vanua Championship is reaching its crucial phase, with only four teams remaining in contention for the 2023 title.

Following the matches at Garvey Park this Saturday, the two advancing teams will secure their positions in the Skipper Cup competition.

The competition is intense, as all four teams are entering this stage with all guns blazing.

Both teams have enjoyed successful seasons in their respective zones.

Ba recently overcame Ovalau aided by the experience of former 7s and Flying Fijian player Sireli Bobo.

Northland managed to defeat the star-studded Navosa team, which included former Nadroga representatives such as Emosi Vucago, Emosi Dawai, and Waqatabu. The northern team is aiming to repeat their upset streak tomorrow.

Anticipation is high for an exciting match at Garvey Park, with Senior Operations Officer Jiko Matawalu suggesting that fans can expect an exhilarating showdown.

The second semi-final features Lautoka and Rewa, the two teams that have had a taste of relegating to the Skipper Cup competition, so both know what is at stake.

The maroons have been a consistent side throughout the season staying undefeated while Rewa lost out to Ovalau in the round robin games.

Matawalu says the two teams know what it takes to come up to the semi-finals  and will give it their all.

For the Under-20 grade, lone northern team Cakaudrove faces Northern Bulls and Navosa will take on Ba.

Supporters are encouraged to show up and back their respective teams in full force.
