Farebrother Challenge

The Farebrother Sullivan Trophy is a challenger series played out by the senior men’s teams participating in the Skipper Cup provincial competition. The top 4 senior teams at season end of the Skipper Cup season would qualify to challenge for the Fiji Rugby Union Farebrother Trophy.

In 2020 the Farebrother Trophy was integrated into the Skipper Cup competition. This new addition to the competition now sees the reigning holder put the trophy up for Challenge at their first home game and then the winner of that Challenge becomes the holder of the Trophy.  The holder is then challenged at their next home game and so on until the final match of the season.

At the commencement of the new format, Nadroga were the holders, being challenged by Suva at the first game of the 2020 season.

Most recently, the 2024 Farebrother Challenge, which was part of the INKK Mobile Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy series in Fiji rugby, saw defending champions Nadi face off against four challengers—Lautoka, Suva, Naitasiri, and Nadroga—over a series of matches from May to June of 2024.

This challenge was marked by intense competition, with Lautoka emerging as a dominant force mid-series before Naitasiri claimed the title in the final match against Nadroga at the Ratu Cakobau Park.
