Fiji Gears Up to Host Top Teams in Historic Women’s 7s Tournament

The presence of the top four teams in the International Women’s 7s circuit in Fiji is a rare opportunity, one that the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team is determined to make the most of.

Our national team is fully prepared to host New Zealand, Australia, USA, and France in the inaugural Fiji Airways Mini 7s International Tournament in Suva.

Head Coach Saiasi Fuli is using this platform to test out his extended squad for the upcoming Solomon Islands Pacific Games and the Oceania 7s later in the year.

Fuli expressed, “With the depth of our squad, this is a valuable opportunity for our girls to compete against world-class players. This event has been a long time in the making, aligning with our vision from last year, and it’s gratifying to see it become a reality.”

Fuli also expressed his intention to assess each player individually and as a group during the weekend, acknowledging the extended break they’ve had.

“We have had a long break so this is the best place to measure the performance of the players individually and physically, also with their decision-making skills,” he said.

The first round of games will be hosted at Suva’s Albert Park this Friday and Saturday, with the first match kicking off at 9.30am.

The teams will play a round robin with three games lined up for each team.  Entry to the Fiji Airways Mini 7s Tournament is Free and the public is encouraged to come out in numbers with their families to support the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team and witness some of the World Class Women’s 7s players from NZ, Australia and France right here at home.
